SUPPORT HOUSING FUNDING

Everyone in California deserves a home they can afford—and the Coachella Valley is no exception.

That’s why we’re urging President pro Tem McGuire, Speaker Rivas, Senators Cabaldon, Smallwood-Cuevas, Niello, Wiener, and Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel, to support Lift to Rise’s request for critical housing investment in this year’s state budget.

Championed by Senators Steve Padilla and Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh, this funding is key to building nearly 1,000 affordable homes—providing stability for families, reducing long-term healthcare costs, and serving as a model pathway for regions across California
facing similar challenges.

Building more homes folks can afford means better health and greater opportunity for all.

Help us send a clear message: California must invest in housing now.

Dear President pro Tem McGuire, Speaker Rivas, Senators Cabaldon, Smallwood-Cuevas, Niello, Wiener, and Assemblymember Jesse Gabriel,

As a California resident, I’m writing to urge you to fund Lift to Rise’s housing affordability request in this year’s budget.

This request, led by Senators Padilla and Ochoa Bogh, reflects a model that is already working. Even in a reduced form, this investment goes far, offering a path forward in a budget year where no new funding for affordable housing was proposed.

The outcomes aren’t abstract — they affect families, seniors, workers, and young people struggling to stay housed in communities like mine. In regions like Riverside County — one of the fastest-growing in the state and among the hardest-hit by housing shortages — we need bold, practical investments like this.

We’re counting on you to prioritize what works — and help ensure more Californians have a safe, stable place to live.
